NN Marathon Rotterdam Preview & How To Watch
The NN Marathon Rotterdam has a well-earned reputation as one of the world’s elite marathons and hopes are high the NN Running Team can add to its rich treasure trove of past memories in the 44th edition of the race on Sunday (13 April).
Leading the charge will be the vastly experienced five-time world champion (three world half marathon titles and two world cross country titles) Geoffrey Kamworor, who will be hunting a personal best.
The Kenyan made his marathon debut some 13 years ago and has since gone on to rack up a string of top three finishes in big city marathons - highlighted by victories in the 2017 and 2019 TCS New York City Marathon.
Recording his personal best of 2:04:23 when second at the 2023 TCS London Marathon, he is sure to be a factor in his first NN Marathon Rotterdam since placing fourth way back in 2013.
Also entered in the men’s race is Dutch athlete Björn Koreman who will be hoping for a strong showing in his homeland. The 34-year-old NN Running Team athlete made a huge breakthrough when winning the 2020 Austrian Marathon Championships in 2:11:07 and he will be looking to replicate the form which propelled him to ninth in a PB of 2:10:32 at the 2022 NN Marathon Rotterdam.
Ethiopian duo Tiruye Mesfin and Aminet Ahmed lead the NN Running Team challenge in what appears a highly competitive women’s race.
Mesfin racked up a series of half marathon triumphs before impressing on her marathon debut to finish sixth in a time of 2:18:47 at the 2022 Valencia Marathon. In 2023, she placed second in the Haspa Hamburg Marathon (2:20:18) and she picked up another podium when third in a swift PB of 2:18:35 at the 2024 Valencia Marathon.
A consistent performer she will look to once again threaten on the streets of Rotterdam.
Ahmed has also carved out a series of top six results in her previous three marathons. In 2024 she placed fifth in Hamburg (2:23:27) and recorded a PB of 2:21:24 for sixth in the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. Meanwhile, in January she also impressed to place fourth (2:23:27) in the Doha Marathon. The 25-year-old will look to maintain her recent consistency in the Dutch port city on Sunday.
